How to Fix No Audio Over Optical (SoundBase 220, 320, 420, 555 & 580)
If your ZVOX speaker is connected to your TV with an optical cable but you’re not getting any sound, there are two common causes: the speaker is set to the wrong input, or the TV is sending audio in a format these speakers can’t play. Follow the steps below to check both.
- Using your ZVOX remote, make sure the speaker is set to the optical input. On these models, the optical input appears as “In1d” on the speaker’s LED display.
- Using your TV remote, open your TV’s settings menu and go to the Sound or Audio settings.
- Find the option for the digital audio output format. On some TVs, you’ll need to look in a submenu like Advanced Audio or Expert Settings. Depending on your TV, the setting may be called “Digital Audio Out,” “SPDIF,” “Audio Format,” or something similar.
- Change the setting to PCM. You should now hear audio from your speaker.
Note: If you can’t find the audio format setting, check your TV’s manual or contact the TV manufacturer for help locating it.
